Character Education
GSS utilizes the Core Virtues program to facilitate the beginnings of character formation. Core Virtues is a literature- based program that goes hand in hand with Core Knowledge. Teachers lead activities each morning (reading, telling a story, etc) based on the virtue for the month. The virtues are arranged in a three year cycle so there are no repeats until year four—with the exceptions of respect and responsibility—which are repeated every September. Furthermore, there are several school-wide activities based on the Core Virtues curriculum each month. For more information please visit corevirtues.org.
